St ANTHONY-OF-PADUA

Christian Saint

Patron Saint of the Elderly, Grave-diggers, Lost Property, Infertile Women, and the Poor

Franciscan Friar, theologian and preacher from Portugal.

Very popular due to his entertaining miracles which included inducing an ass to kneel before the Eucharist after a challenge from a non-believer and restoring a boy’s leg cut off by his mother after he kicked her.

Perhaps the most notable miracle occurred after he told a miser ‘Where your treasure is, there will be your heart also’.

When the miser died guess what? His heart was found in his treasure chest. This made our hero the Patron of Lost Property as well as Padua.
