St BASIL-THE-GREAT

Christian Saint

Also known as BASIL-OF-CAESAREA

Patron Saint of Hospital Administrators, Reformers, Education

Famous Doctor of the Church, Theologian and Bishop of Caesarea.

He was a great buddy of GREGORY-NAZIENZEN, from when they started their careers in a remote monastery.

After a pretty good career he stood up against Emperor Valens with the words ‘You may threaten and torment us but you will never overcome us.’

Valens thought about this and backed off.

Basil is highly regarded and revered across almost the entire Christian spectrum. Accordingly he has a large number of feast days among different denominations — from January 1st to June 14th. Take your pick.
