Patron Saint of Prisoners
A military life rather than a monastic one. Related to the King of Brittany, war was never that far away.
Captured by the English, he spent nine years in the Tower of London where he whiled away the time writing a biography of St Ivo. Which we have not read, so consequently know nothing about him.
On his release and return to France, Charles was killed in battle the next year.
