St ENDA-OF-ARRANMORE

Christian Saint

Not to be confused with Edna. He was the Father of Irish Monasticism.

An Irish warrior, he gave up war for marriage — but his bride-to-be died.

The shock caused withdrawal to the Isle of Aran where he built a monastery. He went on to build many more, but only in very remote places.
