Saint who loved her convent rather a lot
From a noble family she begged to join a convent at the age of 7. Her recently widowed mother who had moved to Egypt to escape suitors agreed. After a time the mother died, leaving the Emperor Theodosis I to honor an arranged marriage as the daughter was now of age.
EUPHRASIA loved her life so much she did not want to leave the convent. She sent an imploring letter to the Emperor asking to stay put — and for him to sell her inheritance and give it all away to the poor.
The Emperor was so moved he burst into tears and concurred with her wishes.
