St EUPLIUS

Christian Saint

Patron Saint of Catania in Sicily

Deacon and Martyr. Arrested in Catana for reading from the Bible, the Governor asked him what it was all about and to read him extracts.

It seems he was not impressed. "So the hero gets trashed early on — doesn’t take out any enemies with him and his buddies don’t go round doing revenge apart from trying to bore people to death. It’s hardly worth censoring."

"It doesn’t matter if you do," said our Saint. "I can quote it all by heart."

"Oh well — a beheading will soon cure that."
