Christian Saint

Byzantine Patriarch of Constantinople.

Opposed to the destruction of religious images, he was fervently devoted to the Virgin MARY and her role as the mediator of supernatural blessings.

A later Pope, LEO-III cried ‘Tosh!’ and ordered any writings found to be burnt.
