St LANDRY

Christian Saint

Bishop of Paris. In a time of famine and epidemics he gave all he had to buy food and help.

When he ran out of funds he sold the cathedral chalices and furnishings.

When more help was needed and hostels could not cope, he came up with the first hospital in Europe. It is still in existence: St Christophes, north of Notre Dame.
