St REMIGIUS

Christian Saint

Bishop of Rheims at the age of twenty-two.

He baptized Clovis I, King of the Franks, after a slight hitch when the sacred oil went missing. (I bet it was that jackdaw).

But the young Bishop was equal to the task and a dove flew down with a phial in its beak at the last moment.

This sort of showmanship was ideal for converting heretics and making baptisms very popular events.
