St. SAMSON OF DOL

Christian Saint

Also known as Samson Of Brittany

Welsh Monk who turned into a French Bishop

He started off as a humble monk in Wales and ended up as one of the legendary seven founders of Brittany.

How did this happen? God told him to do it, of course. Samson received a compelling vision commanding him to go to Brittany.

What is a monk to do? Naturally he set off immediately, along with his father Amwyn and a cart filled with books, vestments and hopefully a change of underwear.

After successfully founding two churches and two monasteries, he became Bishop of the one at Dol.
