St THECLA

The Virgin They Could Not Kill.

She broke off an engagement to a nobleman to embrace Holy Virginity. Blame St PAUL for that one.

This sort of thing did not go down well in Rome at the time and she was sent off to the Amphitheatre for a showdown with the lions.

But the lions merely purred and licked her feet. So her tormentors tried burning. No — she would not ignite, she was depleting the stock of flaming torches as they spluttered out.

Eventually the magistrates gave up and pretended she had not happened. This happened again in 1969 when she was suppressed by the Roman Catholic Church and removed from the Saints Calendar.

But we feel you can't keep a good Saint down and Godchecker has restored her as far as we are able.

We are often asked about merchandise. Can we supply the latest St Thecla graphic novel, book or comic? Not to mention role-playing games (RPG), video games, St Thecla movies on DVD, BluRay and so on. To purchase such goodies we suggest you search for a dedicated mythology-based online store - or try Amazon, Ebay or other reputable websites. We offer a wide range of our own merchandise in our online GodShop, but we don't currently sell third party items. Yet!

Visitors often email us asking about St Thecla statues, sculptures or carved figurines of St Thecla. We regret we cannot assist with identifying such items.
