Greek legendary mortal

Extremely wet ex-Queen of Thebes

Married to the King of Thebes, this foolish daughter of TANTALUS and DIONE boasted that her fourteen children were more beautiful than those of LETO.

Now all mothers like to praise their children, but insulting APOLLO and ARTEMIS at their own mom’s ceremony was a dangerous game.

In a terrible rage, LETO phoned her offspring and retribution was swiftly delivered. APOLLO grabbed his bow, shot the kids dead and ARTEMIS turned the shocked NIOBE into a weeping waterfall. Humans never seem to learn.
