The colorful deities and demons of India...

BHÛTAS

Hindu Demons

The plague whisperers

These are young demons and ghosts. They hover in mid-air and are more or less invisible. There are two ways to avoid them if you know they are about. Lie flat, because they cannot settle, or keep some turmeric smoldering in a bowl or cook with it. It works like garlic on vampires.

Why go to all this trouble? They sound harmless. No — they are not — they can drop poison and plague into your ears.

Now, we at Godchecker can suggest a third way. Wear earplugs.
