CHIBIABOS

Algonquin Underworld God

Also known as Chipiapoos

Wolf Lord of the Dead at Spirit Realm HQ

He is Chakekenapok and Wabasso’s kid brother. His official title is Protector of the Dead. He was dying to get the job and so he did, due to a nasty accident on the ice.

Vandalizing Manitou spirits melted the ice he was walking on and down he went — straight to the Underworld. How horrible. His distraught brother Manabozho battled the spirits for six years to get his brother back.

Eventually a truce was called and the spirits did everything to make amends. Bribes, gifts, back to their place for refreshments etc. Finally they offered a full investiture for Chibiabos as Lord of The Land of The Dead and Guardian of Souls. This was not a bad position so their offer was accepted. It didn’t bring him back to the surface though.
