ILYA MUROMETS

Russian and Ukrainian legendary mortal

Also known as Ilya Of Murom, Илья Муромец

Folk superhero and member of the Bogatyri League of Demon-Busters and Dragon-Slayers

Like a Russian Superman, he possessed super-human strength, which was bestowed upon him by a dying knight. This served him well when it came to beating the baddies and defending the land from various monsters and invasion forces.

Ilya Muromets, like the other Bogatyri, was tolerated if not absorbed by Christianity. According to legend, he once flew into a terrible rage and vandalized all the churches in Kiev. But that didn’t stop him being sainted — the only Russian folk hero with brownie points in Heaven.
