ILYA-MUROMETS, like the other BOGATYRI, was tolerated if not absorbed by Christianity. According to legend, he once flew into a terrible rage and vandalized all the churches in Kiev. But that didn't stop him being sainted — the only Russian folk hero with brownie points in Heaven.
