Tunisian Angel of Death

He is a handy spirit to know if you are tired of life, especially if you live in Tunisia. Azrail was called in when it was found mortals became a bit depressed after five hundred years or so of perpetual struggling.

This came to a head when an extremely elderly virgin refused all offers of continued existence and wished to rest in peace. Moses prayed to Allah who reset humanity’s body clock to seventy-odd years. His angel Azrail was then dispatched to ensure that nobody’s clock overran.

This is a Muslim-based legend from Hausa-speaking people living in Tunisia. AZRAIL appears to be the same as the English angel AZRAEL. So now you know.
