MINONA

Fon Divination Goddess

Goddess of Sorcery and Fortune-Telling

She lives in the forest where she practices divine divination with palms. No, not the palms on your hand. We mean kernels of the palm tree.

She spent a lot of time teaching mankind how to read the omens in palm cones and thus foretell the future. But that was a long time ago and such knowledge sadly appears to have dried up. Unless you count tea leaves.

Apart from that, MINONA is a good Goddess for blessing crops and also looks after women.

We have it on faintly reasonable authority that MINONA is the mother of MAWU-LISA and FA. She is also related to LEGBA, but nobody seems quite sure if she is his mother or sister. Please forgive our uncertainty. We don’t have any palm kernels on hand to consult about that one.
