Supreme but unreachable Creator God
Supreme God of the Tswana. His very name is sacred, but as no-one is allowed to invoke it, it wouldn’t do you much good. Like many other African Gods, he is somewhat aloof but ultimately a good guy.
Most of the Tswana people’s daily deity needs are met by the Badimo spirits, who act as Modimo’s little helpers and also ensure that rituals are performed correctly.
Modimo himself appears to take a back seat while the Badimo do all the work. We wonder exactly what he does all day.
