SOMTUP

A picture showing the legend of SOMTUP taken from our African mythology archives. Illustration by Chas Saunders. Read the story below or search the index for more African Gods, African Goddesses, heroes, demons and monsters!

Spirit of Male Initiation

He looks after male initiations and rites of passage. We are talking secret handshakes, bits of anatomy threatened with scissors and surreal shenanigans in the woods with the lads. All to prove you are a man.

Nowadays the same effect can be achieved with much less embarrassment by purchasing the right brand of aftershave.

We have a strong suspicion that SOMTUP is married to his female equivalent NIMBA. Unless of course she wasn't impressed with his choice of aftershave.

We are often asked about merchandise. Can we supply the latest Somtup graphic novel, book or comic? Not to mention role-playing games (RPG), video games, Somtup movies on DVD, BluRay and so on. To purchase such goodies we suggest you search for a dedicated mythology-based online store - or try Amazon, Ebay or other reputable websites. We offer a wide range of our own merchandise in our online GodShop, but we don't currently sell third party items. Yet!

Visitors often email us asking about Somtup statues, sculptures or carved figurines of Somtup. We regret we cannot assist with identifying such items.
