St BEDEAlso known as VENERABLE-BEDE
Famous Doctor of the Church known as the Venerable One.Originally from Jarrow in England, he became a deacon at nineteen and went on to compose many books and tracts about almost everything.
Probably his best known work is 'The Ecclesiastical History of the English People', which is far more interesting than it sounds. It also includes his racy autobiography.
He established a monastic school at York and was so popular he has two feast days (26th and 27th May) in case you miss one.
