Egyptian Earth God

God of the Earth and Guardian of the Gateway of Death

His sphere of action is limited to a tiny patch of the world that joins the east and west horizons of the Underworld. Does this entitle him to be a horizontal God? His two lion heads face east and west, gazing into tomorrow and yesterday.

AKER guards the Gates of Death and lets the Sun God RA through every day. Must be quite a monotonous job. Presumably he also stops the serpent APEP from escaping into the sky to chase the sun.

We have it on good authority that a prayer to AKER can cure snake bites. He’s also the God to turn to if you’ve accidentally swallowed a fly.
