JUMALA
Also known as JUBMEL

A picture showing the legend of JUMALA taken from our Finnish mythology archives. Illustration by Chas Saunders. Read the story below or search the index for more Finnish Gods, Finnish Goddesses, heroes, demons and monsters!

Supremo Sky God who is as shapeless and abstract as the sky itself.

JUMALA is so abstract that he barely exists at all. The name is the old Finnish word for 'God' — and this could be applied to any deity who fancied a boost. Particularly UKKO.

Over time, the word JUMALA came to be identified with the Christian God JEHOVAH, who more-or-less took over the position of Top Finnish Deity.

We are often asked about merchandise. Can we supply the latest Jumala graphic novel, book or comic? Not to mention role-playing games (RPG), video games, Jumala movies on DVD, BluRay and so on. To purchase such goodies we suggest you search for a dedicated mythology-based online store - or try Amazon, Ebay or other reputable websites. We offer a wide range of our own merchandise in our online GodShop, but we don't currently sell third party items. Yet!

Visitors often email us asking about Jumala statues, sculptures or carved figurines of Jumala. We regret we cannot assist with identifying such items.
