OCEANIDS

Greek Sea Spirits

Also known as OCEANIDES, OKEANIDES

Water Spirits of the Ocean

All self-explanatory. These are the Sea Nids (or NYMPHS) who live in the waters managed by their father OCEANUS.

Many of them also spend a lot of their time in the clouds generating sea mists and ocean air. Very atmospheric. Much more relaxing than their brothers the POTAMOI.

According to the ancient sources, there are over three thousand of these delightful creatures flitting and floating around. So if you ever visit the Greek islands on vacation there’s a strong chance you’ll spot some.
