'The Terrible'
Son of Vayu and Queen Kunti, he is one of the Pandavas brothers. Each one had a different God for a dad. He had a very nasty cousin Duryodhana (leader of the Kauravas clan) who poisoned him and threw him into the Ganges. The snakes in the river found he was no good as a snack as he had so much poison in him it neutralized theirs.
So they said ‘Welcome to the club’ and took him to Vipers Palace where they plied him with amrita, which restored him to life and gave him the strength of a thousand elephants and made him immune from drowning.
So he was all set to enter the Pandava/Kaurava fray. It’s rumble in the jungle time against his nasty cousin and Bhima has the satisfaction of losing by a foul and breaking Duryodhana’s thigh with a club, and this ended the conflict. Almost. Some of the Gods had bet on the Kaurava camp. In a pilgrimage of contrition the Pandava brotherhood perished apart from one survivor. Sadly not Bhima.
