Like the word ‘Messiah’, this is more a job description than a name.
At the end of time there will be quite a lot of purging, but well worth it. Saoshyant the Savior will be born of a virgin from the lineage of Zoroaster and put into motion Ahura Mazda’s scorched-earth policy.
The wicked followers of Ahriman will perish in a big bonfire with much screaming and wailing. But for the just and good, Judgment Day will be like a big party in a hot tub filled with warm milk.
Interestingly, Saoshyant’s apocalyptic role has much in common with the Second Coming of Jesus. Except that Saoshyant had the idea first.
