CHENREZIG

Tibetan Compassion God

Also known as CHENRESIG, SPYAN-RAS-GZIGS

All-seeing Lord of Compassion

One of the BODHISATTVAS, he is the original Tibetan form of the more widely known and popular AVALOKITESVARA.

He’s ‘looking with clear eyes’ — he has a thousand arms with an eye in the palm of each hand. He also has quite a lot of heads — all complete with eyes and probably third eyes. He seems very well-equipped, until he has a weeping session.

For hundreds of years, he has been looking after mortals as part of an extended missionary field trip. His earthly incarnation is the DALAI-LAMA.
