Greek legendary mortal

Son of the Sun and a terrible driver

He is the secret son of Sun God HELIOS by CLYMENE. PHAETON managed to track down his old man and tried to drive his fiery chariot. Unfortunately he had flunked his driving lessons and made a right pig’s ear of it.

There being no traffic cops available to haul him in, ZEUS zonked him out of the sky to prevent him scorching the Earth. His sisters the HELIADES were devastated — they had been hoping for joyrides all summer.
