WHITE-SHE-BUFFALO

Native American Tobacco Goddess

Also known as WHITE-BUFFALO-WOMAN

Popular Buffalo of Pipe Smoking

She first appeared as a beautiful stranger. She stirred up desire, but refused to appear in the buff. In fact she inferred that if she was treated like a queen as she deserved, then she would return with some goodies.

A queenly lodge was built for her, and she did indeed return with a pipe and tobacco. Also some milk which, when planted, could produce corn.

She taught mankind how to smoke and revealed some of life’s mysteries. Then mysteriously turned into an old buffalo cow with skin of the purest white... and vanished. We wonder if it was really tobacco they were smoking. And does she carry a health warning?

The White Buffalo Woman has recently seen a great upsurge in popularity due to a series of white buffalo calves mysteriously born at the rate of one per year since 1995. The first was named ‘Miracle’ — and there’s no arguing with that. We hope they gave the father a cigar.
