SAMANTABHADRA

Buddhist Truth God

The Primordial Father Buddha

He is one of the top BODHISATTVAS. Regarded as the ADI-BUDDHA, he symbolizes the male element of the Universe. He is also part of the Shakyamuni Trinity with BUDDHA and MANJUSHRI.

He seems to be a kind and happy Buddha, naked, unashamed, and a lovely shade of blue. He rides a symbolic elephant with three heads and six tusks. Whatever makes you happy, we say.

His female counterpart is SAMANTABHADRI with whom he is an almost perpetual embrace. They are both very into YAB-YUM and loving Tantric religious ecstasy — and are very popular in consequence. The Shakyamuni Trinity must get a bit crowded with all that embracing going on.

His Japanese incarnation is known as FUGEN.
