ADI-BUDDHA

Buddhist Creator God

Also known as Adibuddha

The Primordial Buddha

Not just one of the Buddhas. He is the primeval Buddha who existed long before Gautama Buddha. He was around before everything — even Buddhism itself. We are still trying to figure that one out ourselves.

Adi-Buddha is the universal essence of Buddhaness from which all Buddhas spring. He is identified with Samantabhadra, in mystical and sexual union with his female counterpart Samantabhadrī.

This has all been going on for a very long time and shows no sign of stopping.
