St. ANDREW DUNG-LAC

Christian Saint

Also known as André Dũng-Lạc

Vietnamese martyr caught in sainthood sweep

He was a Vietnamese priest who had been converted by French missionaries.

Unfortunately for him the ruling Emperors were against that sort of thing. He was killed in a sweeping purge along with fifty other converts.

In 1988, the Pope canonized him along with over a hundred other Vietnamese martyrs in a bulk sainthood session.

Mass sweeps by authority figures can go either way.
