St. ERASMUS

Christian Saint

Also known as Elmo, Erasmus Of Formia

Syrian Bishop and Martyr

He is responsible for St Elmo’s fire — the strange luminous phenomenon observed round the masts of ships.

Elmo is just a nickname conjured up for our Saint by sailors because he is their Patron, and they couldn’t come to terms with Eraswhatsit.
