St. JEANNE JUGAN

Christian Saint

Also known as Sister Mary Of The Cross

Founder of 'Little Sisters of the Poor'

A Breton peasant, she convinced her employer she had to do this and he was the first to contribute funds.

She took on two assistants, a 17 year old and a 70 year old, and they took in elderly homeless women.

They ended up with fifteen houses, but a self-appointed priest took over and promoted the idea as his own and managed to get our Saint incarcerated in a convent.

We don’t know the fate of her staff. Compulsory redundancy?
