The husband of the blessed virgin St. Mary, he is of course well-known as the step-dad of Jesus.
Somewhere along the line he vanished from the Bible story before things got really interesting. The general opinion is that he died before Jesus began his ministry. If so, it’s interesting to speculate what effect this may have had on his step-son’s career.
