St. LYDIA
Christian Saint
Also known as Lydia Of Thyatira
The Purple Woman with a claim to fame
She is famous for being the first Christian convert in Europe. At least, the first one to be mentioned in the New Testament.
An early convert of St. Paul, she was a businesswomen and dealer in purple cloth in a Roman colony at Philippa (in present day Macedonia).
After seeing the light and being baptized, she sheltered Paul and his missionaries when they were having some local difficulties.
Ever since then, purple has been his favorite color.
