St. OLYMPIAS

Christian Saint

Also known as Olympias The Younger

She was married at a tender age to the treasurer of Emperor Theodosius

It didn’t last. He died twenty days later.

Our Saint decided there and then that married life was not for her — she was going to stay single for ever.

Suitors pressed and the Emperor cajoled, but she was adamant, even when she was told her fortune would be held in trust. She didn’t care. She was only going to give it all away for good works anyway.

For she had now taken to being wholly Holy. The complete works. Visions, Penances, Fights with the Devil and correspondence with other Saints To Be, who held her in high esteem.

Final details are somewhat obscure but Martyrdom was probably on her agenda.
