He took on the tough territory of an Alpine pass where one could easily freeze to death. His predecessor had left the diocese in very poor shape and funds seemed to be missing.
Our Saint put it all in order and built shelters and hospices, but after thirteen years he himself went missing.
He was found living the simple life in a Swiss monastery. Once discovered he was obliged to return. Well, it was worth a try — he had managed to gain a whole year of peace.
But he returned to all sorts of schisms and was sent by the Pope to Normandy and England to sort out arguments with royalty etc.
In short he went from a freezing atmosphere to one consisting of hot air — and what with advancing age and all the traveling he died on a return journey to France.
