RUKMINI

Hindu Good Luck Goddess

A wife of Krishna

She is really Lakshmi trying out her hand as an Avatar. Very successfully too, as you will see.

She loved Krishna and he loved her. Unfortunately her brother Rukmi was not in love with the idea and decided to marry her off to Sisupala instead.

With staggering idiocy Rukmi invited Krishna to the wedding. You can probably guess what happened next. Krishna and Rukmini eloped at high speed, pursued by a crowd of highly irritated wedding party guests.

Luckily Krishna had parked his army nearby and the jilted groom’s team didn’t stand a chance. Rukmi and Sisupala were left munching stale wedding cake while our hero and his love zoomed away to tie their nuptials.
