ARINNA

Hittite Sun Goddess 🌞

Also known as Ariniddu

Mother Goddess of the Sun

She is a warm and sunny Goddess who offers protection from war and disaster. Nothing can go wrong while the sun shines.

Her consort, the Storm God, is a bit of a mystery. Although he’s the Top God of the Hittites and very very important, no-one knows who he is. His name has been lost in the mists of time. It’s therefore likely to be rather unmemorable.

The Hittites were quite happy to worship any God who happened to be passing, which can only lead to further confusion. But it seems that their mysterious Storm God eventually became amalgamated with Teshub.
