Virgin girls sacred to top god Inti

’The Chosen Women’. The Acllas were Inti’s girls, virgins specially chosen to keep the sacred fires burning. In emergency situations they were only too happy to let themselves be thrown on the fire.

When not being sacrificed they brewed the beer and did a little concubining for the emperor.
