The Gods and Spirits of the Inuit

ANGAKOK

Inuit legendary mortal

Also known as Angakkuq, Angalkuq, Angekkok, Angokoq

A Shaman who acts as a go-between.

He has to go through a Guardian Spirit, which can be of human shape or a special stone, but is most frequently a polar bear. This is all supposed to make hunting food easier.

We don’t know if it works on any type of food, but it’s tempting to try it the next time we go shopping. You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to get fresh basil around here.
