NIFLHEIM

Norse legendary place

Also known as Niflheimr

The ancient realm of ice and mist in Norse cosmology

Nifl = freezing mist. This is the ancient primordial place where Frost Giants, Ymir and practically everything else in Norse Mythology came into existence. See Nine Worlds.

The underground realm of NIFLHEIM doesn’t have much to see. For a start it is covered in mist. There are the famous Nine Rivers but, as they are frozen, the most exciting thing you can do with them is count them.

It is believed by some that the hellish frozen domain of Helheim lies at the center of NIFLHEIM, but we cannot confirm its exact location. Next door is Ginnungagap, the Cosmic Void.

The Nibelungs live here but they don’t take kindly to opera singers.
