GEB

Macho Earth God with some odd quirks
He is a Father Earth, which makes a change from all the feminine Earth Mothers out there. Not necessarily a nice change however.
Oh dear. He had to be prized apart from his twin sister NUT. See her entry for the full story.Later he was goosed by a goose, resulting in the egg the sun was hatched from. Appropriately, a goose is his sacred beast. It must have been the goose that laid the golden egg.
The son of SHU and TEFNUT, GEB fathered the famous trio OSIRIS, ISIS and NEPHTHYS. He also goes under the names KEB, QEB and, when the letter 'S' was invented, SEB.
Do you get the impression he is not your typical earth deity? He is more like an entertaining Earth Uncle. He is renowned throughout Egypt for his hilarious farmyard impressions. These are so side-splitting that they actually cause earthquakes.
Believe it or not, GEB is such a laugh-a-minute that his soubriquet became 'The Cackler'. Didn't we see him in a Batman comic?
