SEMELE

Greek legendary mortal

Unfortunately frazzled Zeus-fancier

What a scorcher. The daughter of Cadmus, her burning passion for Zeus led to flaming destruction when she was burned to a cinder during their brief affair.

It was all due to Zeus’s jealous wife Hera, who was sick of rampant husband’s unfaithful shenanigans. Why, there was even a rumor that the two lovers had produced a baby called Dionysus.

So she devised the perfect way to destroy her rival. She forced her rampant husband to go on a date with Semele wearing his hottest, sexiest clothes. He was so gorgeous that the flames of desire were whipped up to white-hot level and Semele spontaneously combusted. Hera rubbed her hands in glee and Zeus had an early night for once.
